Sander

Sander van Berkel werd geboren in 1979 te Amersfoort. Hij begon zijn cellolessen op 7 jarige leeftijd bij Frank Linschoten. Sander studeerde onder meer bij Rene Berman en Michel Dispa. Hij rondde zijn Masterstudie cello af bij Paul Uyterlinde door solo te spelen met het conservatoriumorkest van Gent, Tilburg en Maastricht.
Daarna studeerde hij bij Professor Alexander Hulshoff aan de Folkwang Hochschule te Essen, Duitsland.
Hij volgde masterclasses bij onder andere: Colin Carr, Georg Faust en Quiriene Viersen. Sander heeft bij diverse ensembles en orkesten gespeeld zoals Nationaal Jeugd Orkest en het Naska. Ook remplaceert hij met regelmatig in diverse beroepsorkesten.
Sinds 2008 is hij lid van het Aeolus Cellokwartet waarmee hij ondermeer concerten gaf in de Doelen en het Concertgebouw.
Verder gaf hij met diverse ensembles en orkesten concerten in o.a. Duitsland, Thailand, Engeland, Spanje, Colombia, Suriname en Brazilië. Ook speelt hij geregeld solo met Orkesten. Zo soleerde hij ondermeer in het celloconcert van Elgar, het concerto grosso voor 3 celli en orkest van Penderecki, de Elegie van Fauré, Kol Nidrei van Bruch en het Celloconcert in C van J. Haydn.
Sander speelt op een cello gebouwd door Uli Schnorr en een Voirin strijkstok, hem ter beschikking gesteld door het Nationaal Muziekinstrumenten Fonds.

The following years he took part in the celloclass of Professor Alexander Hulshoff at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen, Germany.
He attended masterclasses with, among others: Colin Carr, Georg Faust and Quirien Viersen. Sandy has played with various ensembles and orchestras such as the National Youth Orchestra of the Netherlands and the Naska.
He currently is working as freelance cellist in several professional orchestras.
Since 2008 he is member of the Aeolus Quartet Cello among whom he gave concerts in 'De Doelen', Rotterdam, and the Amsterdam Concertgebouw.
He toured with various ensembles and orchestras, for instance to Germany, Thailand, England, Spain, Colombia, Suriname and Brazil. .
As soloist he played many concerts, including the Elgar cello concerto, the concerto grosso for three cellos and orchestra in Penderecki, the Elegie by Faure, Bruch's Kol Nidrei and the Cello Concerto in C by J. Haydn.
Sander plays a cello built by Uli Schnorr, 1999 and a Voirin bow, collection NMF.
