Sebastiaan

Sebastiaan de Rode studeerde aan het Sweelinck Conservatorium Amsterdam bij Michel Dispa. In 1997 ging hij naar Berlijn om bij Markus Nyikos te studeren aan de 'Hochschule der Kunste'. Vanaf 2000 studeerde hij korte tijd bij Dmitri Ferschtman aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag en vervolgde in 2001 zijn studie in Rotterdam bij Herre Jan Stegenga met kamermuziek coaching bij Ron Ephrat.
Sebastiaan volgde diverse cursussen en masterclasses in binnen- en buitenland en werd daarbij geïnspireerd door bekende musici zoals Nathaniël Rosen, Janos Starker, Jerome Lowenthal (Julliard School of Music, NY) en leden van onder andere  het Alban Berg Quartet, het Brodsky Quartet, het Amadeus Quartet en het Guarneri Quartet. Hij nam deel aan diverse festivals waaronder het Kagel festival, het Manchester Music Festival (USA) en het festival rondom Janine Jansen.
Sinds 1998 werk Sebastiaan als freelancer bij diverse orkesten in Nederland waaronder het Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest, Holland Symfonia, het Residentie Orkest en vele andere orkesten. Ook speelde hij solo met diverse orkesten in Nederland.
Sebastiaan speelde in het HdK Ensemble Berlin en was één van de cellisten in het Cello-octet Amsterdam. Momenteel  speelt hij regelmatig met het Lagos Ensemble en het Aeolus Cellokwartet op de diverse podia in Nederland.
In Oktober 2009 bracht het Lagos ensemble haar twee cd uit met werken van Mauricio Kagel en Tristan Keuris. De eerste cd kwam uit in 2003 met strijkkwartetten van Beethoven en Bartók. In dat zelfde jaar werkte hij mee aan de cd ‘Spiritual Spanish Music from the XXI Century’van het Cello-octet Amsterdam. Daarnaast heeft het Lagos Ensemble meegewerkt aan de promotie cd van het Nationaal Muziekinstrumenten Fonds: in 2001 met 'de Instrumentenparade' en in 2006 met 'de Haagse School'.
Sebastiaan bespeelt een Joh. Th. Cuypers cello uit 1770, hem ter beschikking gesteld door het Nationaal Muziekinstrumenten Fonds.

Sebastiaan de Rode studied at the Sweelinck School of Music Amsterdam with Michel Dispa. In 1997 he was accepted as a student at ‘Hochschule der Kunste’ Berlin with professor Markus Nyikos. From 2000 he studied with Dmitri Ferschtman at the ‘Koninklijk Conservatorium’ the Hague, and from 2001 he also followed a specialisation chamber music at Rotterdam School of Music with Herre-Jan Stegenga, and quartet coaching by Ron Ephrat.
Sebastiaan followed several master classes and courses as well in the Netherlands as in other countries with famous chamber musicians such as members from the Alban Berg Quartet, the Brodsky Quartet, the Amadeus Quartet and the Guarneri Quartet. He also followed courses with international renown musicians as Nathaniël Rosen, Janos Starker and Jerome Lowenthal (Julliard School of Music, NY). He participated in several music festivals such as the Kagel festival, the Manchester Music Festival (USA) and the festival with Janine Jansen in Utrecht.
Since 1998 Sebastiaan has worked as a substitute in orchestras in the Netherlands such as the Dutch Philharmonic Orchestra, the Dutch Chamber Orchestra, the National Ballet Orchestra, the Residential Orchestra and many others. He also worked as soloist with several orchestras in the Netherlands. Sebastiaan played in the HdK ensemble Berlin and was one of the cellists in Cello-octet Amsterdam. At the moment he plays regularly with the Lagos ensemble and the Aeolus Cello Quartet, on all different concert stages in the Netherlands.
In October 2009 the Lagos ensemble released her second cd with works from Mauricio Kagel and Tristan Keuris. The first recording was released in 2003 with works from Beethoven en Bartók. In that same year he cooperated with a recording  Furthermore the Lagos ensemble contributed to the promotion cd’s from the National Music Instrument Fund in 2001 (‘Instrumentenparade’) and in 2006 (de Haagse school).
Sebastiaan de Rode plays a Joh. Th. Guypers cello from 1770, which is put as his disposal by the National Music Instrument Fund of the Netherlands.
